Tug's long week

So, I come back from a week away and Mama leaves for a few days. It was so hot and muggy that I wouldn't take the boy out for walks and he got cabin fever. We did play indoors a lot and I sent him out on the porch a few times and stayed within sight (but in the house and the AIR CONDITIONER). I'd throw ice cubes out onto the porch- he knows the word "ice" and loves the stuff- and then I'd watch him play. I figure it'll take him at least a week to get back into routine plus we have a holiday weekend coming up.

Tug is trying so hard to talk to us. He's started a new type of barking which is not too loud and done staring straight at us. It's his way of trying to tell us something and we are, frankly, too stupid to get it. He does do it to get a particular toy that may be out of reach or to ask us to go look out the window with him but other times??? I have absolutely no clue what he wants...

While Mama was gone, I would get up in the middle of the night and so I'd let Tug out to go "to the papers." That way his little bladder wouldn't insist we get up at an ungodly hour like 7:30 AM. We'd done fine the previous nights but on the last one I was so sleepy that I didn't latch the door to his crate again. We put a little drape over his crate and he knows that's the signal for settle down and sleep. So I'd pulled that back over the door and collapsed back into bed (I was sleeping in Mama's room to lessen the "bark" potential). I got up because Tug was doing his normal AM snuffling and dancing in the crate and then I noticed the drape was hanging funny. I pulled up the drape and the door is open enough for him to have come out but he never did! What a sweet boy (or a bona fide moron- your choice)!

Our Boston Terrier

I was out of town for a week on business. Tug came with Mama to pick me up at the airport. It was so nice to see our little boy again- I'd really missed that cute little face! He was very excited to see me again and Mama said he'd noticed something was amiss in the household. We just don't think he realized it was me being gone. He slept a lot and was a little morose. Last night and this morning he's tried to make up for it, though. He's playing hard and giving me lots of "kisses" (ICK).

patience

I was rushing around this morning as I was late to work. Suddenly, I hear Mama's voice saying "what a sweet boy!" It turns out Tug was standing outside his crate in the living room with his nose against the closed door. Mama stores his toys in there and he goes in frequently to pull one out. Somehow, the door swung shut and he couldn't get in to get his crab. Instead of barking or coming over to paw at us he just stood there and stared through the wire at Crab. He's finely learning that quiet puppies get taken care of pretty quickly- though only if WE'RE on the ball...

Tug's Birthday outing

Thank god my sister took her video camera!! It ended up being close to TWENTY Bostons gathered at this park. It's hard to imagine but to see clips as my sister panned across the park- it looked like a photocopier had malfunctioned...

Tug's entourage (Mama and my sister) decided passing out treats would cause a riot in that group so they snuck a few to Bostons they knew (including the one who was Tug's first playdate- from a previous post).

The images are hysterical and Tug seemed to enjoy himself. He's maturing now and spent more time trying to approach the dogs as opposed to their owners. He's still a little timid but doesn't tuck his tail under and dash away anymore...

Tug's first birthday

Tug turns one year old on Saturday and Mama and my sister take him to a meetup group of Bostons that day. (I'm passing on the party.) They've bought peanut butter treats to pass out and have a candle in the shape of a "1." I'll just rub his ears and tummy extra long that day...
