My aunt came over today as Mama and my sister were setting up our camper in the parking lot for a quick airing out. We hit the road on Friday.
Whenever she comes over Tug goes into hyper-Terrier mode. Only once in his 2 1/2 years has he been able to control himself at all when she was here. Today, he was a menace. I pulled him off of her for awhile and, when he seemed calm, let him try to sit in her lap again. Mostly, he was hysterical but he had a few spans of time where he managed to just sit and pant and grin while she petted him. Not bad all things considered as I was able to lure him off her lap to play at one point. That's a first.
Then, the 3 of them went out into the parking lot to the camper. You can see that area from our window but it's too far for him to realize it was them out there. He was fairly despondent sitting in the window and waiting for something to happen. It did mean I got lunch fixed without stepping on him 200 times. He likes to be under my feet in the kitchen since scraps fall and he never knows when something good will rain down upon him.
They came back in and he tried even harder to be good. My aunt stood for awhile sort of near the door before she left and just chatted with Mama. Tug sat about 5 feet from her and his eyes never left her. He waited for some acknowledgement. Mama told my aunt to look left without moving her head and she could just see him sitting at attention and waiting for her to love on him. It was so sweet!

introducing the companion blog

Mama and my sister asked me to keep a journal about our adventures camping so I decided to create a new blog instead. Once you take the girl into cyberspace you run that risk! ;)

Tug Went Camping

We finally got our new tent camper and Tug went camping for the second time. Our unusually patient boy was tethered in the bed of my pickup to keep him from under our feet while Mama, my sister and I figured out how to set up the camper. (He was such a sweetie!) The big bonus: for the first time since he came to live with us at 7 weeks old (over two years ago) he got to spend the night without sleeping in a crate! His camping crate was just a little too large for the floor space so he got to sleep in my sister's bunk with her (the window on the left). Mama slept on the bed made from the dinette (the window to the left of the door and, therefore, between my sister's bunk and everywhere else- Tug would've needed to cross over Mama to reach the floor or me on the right side of the camper). So, notice him in the photo yet? It's like "where's Waldo" as he blends into the black truck bed. Just look for the white wishbone shaped blaze on his face. LOL
