heh, heh, heh

I'm not a nice person- I've mentioned that here before- but I really got Tug today and with Mama's help!

It's just cool enough that Mama and Tug have resumed their walks. I was taking half a day off but Terriers aren't too good with telling time so we hadn't informed Tug. I was out of my truck before they reached my section of the lot and was behind a car. I realized Tug couldn't have seen me so I grinned at Mama and moved around the car keeping it between me and Tug. When he got to the sidewalk and hopped up he was angling the other way to keep walking. Mama kept her mouth shut and I said, "boo!" (I'm laughing as I write this- I'm misspelling words all over the place I'm laughing so hard at the memory.) Tug's butt levitates and circles behind him so he's suddenly facing me, his eyes are HUGE and he gives off an involuntary "bwoof!" Which starts out loud but fades towards the "of " part. Then, he sees it's me and scrambles over for a "Tug hug" (think of how a cat comes up and rubs against you from their shoulder to their hip and curves into a U while they do it- that's what he does). Even Mama was laughing about how well I'd gotten him and I wished I'd had my cell on and my video going- that would've been a favorite on UTube. heh, heh, heh

weekend trip

We're going out of town together this weekend- all four of us in my sister's SUV. Normally, it's a 7 hour road trip and little Tuggums has never been in on a trip with more than 3 hours travel at a time. For our RV trip (April, '07) he was in the car a lot but there was an hour or more stop early on where he got out and stretched his legs. Then, he hit a three hour stretch. This time, we'll be stopping periodically which lengthens the trip and we'll end up at a hotel that takes dogs. I hope the boy does well and doesn't get sick from stress or just worn out (thereby entering "biting" mode where he even gnaws our hands if he can get 'em). Unfortunately, it's a sad trip so we three humans won't be at our best, either. Tug does respond to our moods and the disquiet we've experienced from a loss has made him clingy and a little anxious some days- more than normal a few times. Of course, when I worry about these things he always comes through like a trooper and it's the terrier resiliency, I think. As hard as this weekend will be for the boy I'm glad our little fella will be along. He gives us something else to focus on and he's got such a sweet face...when he's not gnawing...

Alas

Alas, poor yellow donut thingy- we hardly knew you...It made it about a week before the curse of the Bosties necessitated removal from the home.

Tug the invincible

Invincible Boston Found in Florida

Tug O'War ("Tug"), 3 years old, was discovered playing with a new toy this week. Reports from witnesses indicate the yellow "donut" shaped toy has soft, little protrusions like bristles around it. It was indicated to be soft but not very squeaky and large enough to be held by the Boston Terror and an owner's hand at the same time; no blood was evident on the owner. It rolls in a circular pattern and also bounces. Tug was noted to carry it around and toss his head to make it jerk through the air invitingly- as if teasing unsuspecting humans to try and grab it. His lengthy rap sheet indicates this to be his standard M.O. (method of operation).

His owners reported the hard-headed Bostie was fearless when chasing down the wayward toy and would bang his head on furniture. No damage was reported to the sofa or chairs but examination of the tv cabinet is pending.

Note: Tug O'War declined all requests for interviews submitted by this reporter and referred questions to his P.R. firm "Bostons R Us." Phones at the offices were unmanned and no one answered at the door today during business hours.
