Good behavior

Our neighbor came to chat today and Tug really loves him. He goes bonkers, actually, under the theory that in order to properly welcome someone into the house they must be jumped up at and licked to ensure they realize they are welcome. Mama's just taken to putting Tug in the crate before she opens the door. Today, I was coming in and out at that time (unloading groceries) and Tug was bouncing up and down on all fours trying to get everyone's attention...but NOT barking!! wooo hooo

So I get him out of the crate and sit in the recliner to rock. Tug struggled for a good two minutes until he realized I wasn't going to let him down to run over to our neighbor. He finally contented himself with staring at our neighbor as we rocked. What a good boy!

Good boy!

Tug's been letting us know at night he's ready to go to bed and it's a relief!

Today at the paw park another dog kept trying to chase him away from Mama so she could get Mama's attention. She even growled at Tug. The weenie got up in Mama's lap. Later, he did look at the big dogs in the other section and then started pawing at Mama's leg. She got frustrated and said, "let's go" and guess who beat her to the gate? Tug wanted to leave!

Tonight, I was coming into the hall from my room and he was waiting on his side of the baby gate. I asked if he was ready to go "nite-nite" and he beat me to the crate. As I walked in he was in the crate poking his head out of the door checking out my hands for his bedtime treat. What a good boy!

The "Good" Tug is back

Lately, he's been doing his "grab the hand and apply gentle pressure until the 2 idiots realize I want to go to bed" routine. He's actually been asking to go! It's so refreshing. Also, he was in mid "crazies" and I shouted (yes, loudly) "sit!" He did it!?! Of course, it only lasted because he thought he'd get a treat but I'm okay with that! It kept the situation from escalating.

Sadly, even "Good" Tug is a lick monster. He's licking me constantly and I sincerely hate that so I'm getting frustrated. I don't know what we can do about it, though. It alternately means "pay attention to me because I'm pathetic" or "I'm tired" or "I'm anxious" or "do you love me." sigh

I know something you don't know...

So Mama tells me a cute story about Tug today and ends it with "but you can't put that on the web." So: a pooch and a potty and that's all I'm gonna say!!

Just who runs this household anyway?

New Year's Eve, 9pm

Tug has played with my sister all day long and not really napped. He sits and stares at the three of us for awhile and won't be coaxed over to anyone. Then, he goes and sits in his crate...very odd. I go and get him a treat since any quiet behavior is rewarded even if we think he's only being quiet to get a treat. He eats it but isn't enthusiastic and remains sitting in the crate. I could tell he was tired so I asked "nite-nite?" (It's what Mama says as she pulls the drape over his crate at night and he does understand that means to settle down.) His little ears perk up and he looks at all of us in turn. The silly thing wants to go to bed! Mama decides to go too since that way he'll settle down for sure and she's tired anyway. I'm surprised to realize I'm tired and bed sounds good. My sister was staying over and had been camping the previous few nights and she's ready for bed.

Happy New Year! LOL
