Tug and the new ball my sister gave him...not the older version Mama and I had packed...y'know, the SILENT one.

Tug's Christmas present

So, to go to the B&B Mama and I pack 3 of Tug's favorite toys: a rope (aka booda bone), a cuz and a ball: a rainbow colored plastic-yet-springy ball whose squeaker had died some time back. Tug "kills" those squeakers pretty fast, actually. Get the picture? All silent toys.

My sister buys him a new one of the balls for his Christmas present- all fine and well- but brings it to the B&B!!!

Two days of rain, two room suite, three adult women with functioning eardrums and one TERRIER WITH A SQUEAKY TOY!!

No jury would've convicted me...

It rained during our getaway- a lot! Flooded streets and tornadoes (none near us- tornadoes, at least).

Tug did get to see the ocean from the car. It was high tide so there was only about 15 feet worth of beach and we parked a few feet above that by a dune. He was totally immersed in looking out the driver side as that way he could stand on Mama's lap and see much better. The beach, of course, was on the passenger side. We had to roll down the window to entice him over there and he just stood there like he was dazed...he had no idea it was water but the sound and the smell and the noisy gulls were just amazing to him...

We'd found out some neighbors were camping at a state park on our way so we pulled in and met them. Very nice little visit and he likes them and Callie the dauchsaund.

He behaved amazingly well at the B&B! The only barking was when the guests staying upstairs would walk up or down the stairs by our doorway- and I thought that was reasonable. He took velcro to new heights, though, and stuck to us like glue. Unfortunately, due to the excessive rain, there weren't many outings for him. He kept us company for naps- in fact he slept a lot.

Tug saw his first horse- it was pulling a tourist carriage and passed within a few feet of the car. Big, bad Tug bark*bark*BARKED. When we were leaving we got to take him out to a historic fort and take a few photos of him in his red coat (it was chilly and very, very windy). Hopefully, will get one of those on here soon.

Happy Holidays!

disclaimer: I know that last post appears twice but if I try to delete one or the other they both disappear- now the one I posted tonight is gone, too. *sigh*

Tug's long awaited 'first vacation' begins tomorrow. Mama was packing his things tonight and my sister likens it to a baby's diaper bag: puppy pads to pee on, food, treats, water for car trip, water bowl, food bowl, 3 toys (cuz, ball & rope- aka booda bone), coat, and towels for any clean up needed. We'll buy newspaper when we get there since he hates the feel of the puppy pads. His bedding was freshly cleaned and he's sleeping on it tonight- tomorrow the whole crate (bedding and all) gets tossed in the car. My sister is bringing towels and her cameras (still & video) as we hope to give him his first sight of the ocean tomorrow. He's also going to his first restaurant as a British pub allows dogs in the outdoor seating area- cross your fingers for us!!!

velcro dog

My sister took Tug to a park today to meet up with other Bostons. When a dog would bully him he'd run to her for reassurance. Some of the other Boston owners wished their dogs were like that as they prefer their toys to playing with people. The grass is always greener...

Mama & I realized tonight that he's not happy without the two of us together. When I'm gone he won't play and when she's gone he keeps checking the front door & window to see if she's coming back yet.

Early Christmas Greetings from Tug

Merry Christmas to All!!

(What a sweet boy! He posed in front of the tree for over 10 mintues while I sat on the floor and took photos...of course, Mama was just out of the frame with a jar of peanut butter in one hand and a spoon in the other. I think I've previously mentioned he's a 'treat slut' who will do anything for food...)

Post vacation 'clinging'

I spend the weekend after Thanksgiving with my grandmother every year and guess who's playing velcro now that I'm back home??? Silly Tug.

I stayed with my aunt while I was gone and she's the one with Pumpkin, the ASPCA Cat of the Year. Pumpkin got magazine coverage this month so, of course, I bought a copy for us. She's such a sweet cat and has the softest fur. I enjoy getting to pet her when I'm there and she has the quietest little 'mew.' Quite a shocker to walk into the house last night to a furiously barking dog- he was in the crate in the living room to give me the chance to get in the door with all my stuff. He was very upset at not being able to come out and jump on me right away. I petted him a moment and then went to change from my traveling clothes. I wanted a shower but he guilted me into sitting down and giving him an ear rub instead...:)
