Tug's annual checkup

Tug weighs 19.6 lbs. He hadn't been to the vet's since his post- neuter visit last fall so he had to sniff everything. Mama was able to let him wander the waiting room as no other dogs were there. The staff went nuts over Tug since he's so sociable and told Mama there'd been a more boisterous Boston there earlier in the day. Mama invited them to come over some night so they could see the 'crazies.'

After his exam, Tug was sniffing the floor and realized the door was open. He took a stroll down the hall peeking into rooms. Mama had to hurry after him while the vet waited for them to get back. Everyone else was so busy they didn't even notice him trot by...

Crazy dog

Tug gets the 'crazies' at night sometimes. He thinks it's great fun to run full speed at us and jump up on us and try to bite our hands. We are not amused. The past few nights he's still been up when I get home so when he'd get the crazies I'd grab him and pin him beside me in the chair- only his head could move. Then I'd start rocking gently and rub his belly with the hand pinning him against my side. Eventually, he'd relax and just enjoy it. Unfortunately, his little body puts out a lot of heat and so does mine so he's gotten a bit overheated just sitting there. We're popping him into his crate (which is in between our recliners) and feeding him ice- one of his favorite treats. Fortunately, he really gets into licking it and then chewing it when it's small enough. Better that than our fingers!

New Toy

I got Tug a new toy this week and Mama reports that he has badgered her to play with him & it incessantly. Recently, the decision came down from on high (Mama) that crab had to go. It's his very favorite toy ever but he does get a little obsessed and possessive. Crab will be a once a week treat from now on. This new toy is shaped like a bone and made out of the same stuff as a tennis ball. So far it's holding up well. It fits perfectly in his mouth with a half inch hanging out either side so it's hard for us to grab from him. It gives him the upper hand in playing which is part of it's appeal. He's jumped a full three feet off the floor when I was holding it up!
