Tug's Scariest Moment
Until Friday night, Tug's biggest fright was during his first week with us. Mama and I took him to work on my day off to introduce him to my co-workers. Poor little thing was just 7 weeks old and a low-flying helicopter passed over as we stood outside the building. Fortunately, the lady holding him is a long-time dog owner but when a low-flying plane closely followed poor Tug just shivered with fright.
Then, this past Friday, he jumped from a standing position (he balances very well on his hind legs) to go after a toy Mama had thrown for him. Tug landed flat on his chin and was truly stunned. He was making a sound between a whimper and a cry and was petrified. I think he was stunned and maybe a little bit in shock from hitting the laminate floor so hard. I picked him up and he just clung to me and shivered. We petted him and tried to check his mouth for blood but he didn't want his face touched. Finally, he gave a little shake (still in my arms) and then began licking my face for reassurance. Then we could see there was no blood and I rubbed under his chin to see if his jaw was broken. We sat him on the kitchen counter (an absolute no-no) and gave him some water. Poor little fellow was upset for a good half hour. We did coddle him quite a bit which I know we shouldn't but we had visions of a dead puppy in our brains when it happened...
He slept a lot this weekend but he did eat and drink so when we called the vet the next morning he just told us to keep an eye on Tug. He seems to be doing fine now but it was quite a scare for all of us.

Review: 2005 model B.T.
(Tug doesn't move like other dogs- his hind legs will stay in place like anchors while his front paws pounce around, playing with toys or treats. Watching this I remarked to Mama that he had independent suspension- hence this "automotive review.")
2005 B.T.:
independent wishbone suspension he's a little bow-legged in back
no anti-lock brakes available in this price range if I had a dime for every time he slides into a wall! though he is getting better about that
emissions issues give the EPA a hissy fit
high mpk (miles per kibble)
lots of engine noise
sleek, stylish design
white walls standard front paws have socks and rear paws have white toes or spats
poor steering control he goes where he wants to
Recommendation: buy, buy, buy

Tug's Wellness Regime
Tug subscribes to the theory that a healthy Boston is a happy Boston. In addition to his daily play time (aka "waking hours") he practices Power Puppy Yoga. He specializes in the many positions known as "sleeping puppy" and, for maximum relaxation, performs them all in full-body contact with a human.
His sense of well-being does not extend to certain situations. At a pet mega-market he only barked at the Great Dane- never mind the smaller specimens walking about! He also did a head first dive out of the cart, deliberately, and I just managed to move the leash in time to keep him from hanging himself! Silly Tug!

"Snot" funny
Tug has gotten a little picky about his food and doesn't always want to eat when his bowl is presented. The other day his editorial comment was to sniff his food and walk over to Mama's foot and snort like he'd smelled something awful and wanted to get the scent out of his nose. Scent wasn't the only thing that little booger expelled!!!
