Tug's nickname is Hoover: our floors have no crumbs but do have a heavy coating of saliva from his tongue when he licks stuff up. I was doing prep work for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow by peeling carrots & parsnips. I pulled a chair into the kitchen and hung a garbage bag on a drawer handle started peeling. Hoover stood underneath the bag snarfing up any peels which missed the bag and hit the floor. Now, Tuggums has a delicate stomach which doesn't handle all foods well so I was a little concerned. I did try to keep him from getting too much.
Shortly thereafter, Mama took the boy for a walk- it's so cold here this week he's wearing his little red coat again. She duly reported that during his outing he passed the peels just fine. Apparently, that kind of roughage goes through like greased lightning...

This is NOT funny!
Poor Mama, she just can't win against a half-wit terrier. Tug sometimes doesn't want to go into the crate- understandable in itself but if it's daylight and he knows she's leaving him it's really reasonable... (How does he know? She wears different types of clothes to leave the house. He goes on alert when she changes into them- without seeing the purse or hearing the keys, even.)
A few nights ago, Mama had to go somewhere for a little while and walked him into her bedroom to coax (bribe with treats) him into the crate. Tug decided he'd rather just slither on his belly under her bed instead. (insert hysterical laughter from me) By the time she got him out (I didn't dare ask how considering the looks she was giving him when she told me this) she was sweaty and disheveled.
Personally, I think it's dang clever of the little butthead. In the interest of living in peace with the Mama, though, I suggested she pick him up in the living room or kitchen from now on and carry him in- just like we do when he's sleepy. She did manage that last night but he catches on fast...

Tug the frisky
It's cooler weather and Tug's just come alive. He races around the living/dining room and out onto the screened in porch and back in again-- usually carrying a toy. He leaps and jumps like a little lamb. Poor baby, Florida is just too hot for him 6 months of the year. He and Mama have taken extra walks lately.
We just discovered a brand new paw park near us- very shady, cool and lots of room for the boy to sniff and frolic. He and Mama will make short trips over there on nice days- even a 20 minute outing (with 10+ minute drive time is a huge treat).

Yea! We're back!!
(Sorry for the lag but there were some technical issues and my posts were just be shoved into draft and then they'd go missing...)
Tug had an outing today with his full entourage (Mama, my sister and me). We went to the picnic area of a local state park because it was a cool, overcast day. He sniffed til his flat little nose nearly fell off and he ate dirt and leaves and acorns which will all probably be vomitted tonight sometime after 2am if history repeats itself. Mama's put clean bedding by his crate and is resigned to getting up to clean him up. Poor little guy just can't understand what's going on when that happens. He just gets confused.
There's a new park to take him to and we rode by it today. It's the closest one to us and is shady and has benches and it's new. Mama's taking him there tomorrow. :)
He's back out playing on the porch a lot now since it's cooler. Mama has made the bold decision to move his 'papers' onto the porch and he's doing fine so far. My concern is when poor weather comes and the door can't just be left open. Tug's always had free access to his papers and, if the sliding glass door is closed, will he find a way to tell us to let him out? I'm just concerned there will be accidents until he learns to tell us in enough time to open the door for him- he's used to going at a moment's notice now. Will keep you posted...LOL- as if that's earthshattering news to anyone but us!!
