the Sultan of Sun

This is from our last camping trip about a month ago. What a shame the boy is so wound up he can't relax...he was snoozing in the morning sun. If he got into the shade it was cold enough that he'd shiver and his teeth would chatter!

Sleepy baby

Today, Mama was going to a play and had to leave just after 3pm. I was planning a marathon cooking session so we timed it for Tug to go to bed before Mama left so he'd be settled. He slept fine until I scorched some veggies in the bottom of a pan and some smoke wafted back to the bedroom. He insisted on coming out to check on everything at that point. He was so sleepy, though, he kept wandering around checking for Mama. He looked at her chair, wandered back to the bedroom, checked her rocker on the porch and then would just stare at me- look at the door- and look at me again. Poor thing just couldn't get settled and I was too busy cooking to take a time out and play or let him sleep in my lap. Mama came home and we ate dinner and he just wanted to relax. They even went to bed earlier than usual and Tug went into his crate without hesitation. I even came in a little later to ask Mama a question and didn't even see his nose peeking out under the edge of the crate cover...normally, he looks out when I walk into the room and settles back down. I think he slept through it!

poor baby

My sister had hand surgery this week and Mama's schedule was off track to accomodate it (they had to be UP at 4 AM to get there- UGH!). If Mama's schedule is off then so is Tug's and terriers just do better with a routine. I did get up earlier than usual that day to spend an hour and a half with him before work...he slept in my lap the whole time. At least he wasn't in the crate for that little while. He's such a good boy that if he'd understood he was doing this for my sister he'd have volunteered to stay in his crate 'round the clock!
