milestone

My aunt came over this week and Tug, who usually goes into "terrier/terror" mode, actually got quiet in her lap for the first time in his two years of life. Finally!! We'd always told her what a sweetheart he can be and she'd never seen it. (whew)

Cross your fingers and paws that this is a new trend...

the cold truth

We've raised a lap hog. Tug really thinks he's a people. We thought he'd catch on that he wears a collar and leash like other dogs but he just thought his jewelry lacked "bling." We didn't have the heart to tell him.

Mama thought he'd catch on about playing "fetch" but he thinks he's doing it for our benefit. I thought the last straw was when we told him he couldn't have a driver's license. He decided he's fine with sitting in the backseat and having chauffeurs. He does complain about Mama's sedan vs. my sister's SUV- he says he knows he's "stylin'" sitting way up high.

I'd thought we'd finally made some headway when we convinced him that sleeping in a crate in Mama's room was not "subletting." Turns out he just wants his deposit back. (Would you believe he wouldn't take a personal check? Ever since he ate on of my bank statements he's been an "authority" on my financial status!)

Poor boy

I've overslept two days in a row. Most days I try to have 20 minutes to spend either playing with Tug or rubbing his ears. Not these two days, however. I did come home early enough on Monday that he was still awake and got an ear rub. This morning, as I was heading out the door, I heard Mama say, "ohhhhh, someone's so disappointed." I look back and the poor boy is standing with his ears down and a furrowed brow. He wouldn't even look at me...and I thought mothers gave the best guilt trips (LOL).

He's back to letting us know he wants to go to bed again. He's making it to about 9:30pm and then he's done. If Mama can get him to sleep in the chair with her he's hyper excited to see me when I come home. Some nights he just can't wait up...

a snoutfull

Mama's been walking Tug in the evenings when it's cooler so the little boy doesn't go entirely insane. It's just too hot for him to go outside in the daytime- not to mention what it does to Mama's asthma. Yesterday, they took a dusk walk around and Tug likes to put his flat little nose to the ground and just move earth like a bulldozer. So, I've taken a bath already, I'm sitting quietly in my recliner when they get back. He comes bounding up onto me and has to smell my housedress. (He HAS to smell EVERYTHING!) So what happens to my nice and clean housedress? He leaves a smudge of freshly dug earth across it, of course! (butthead)

Today, Mama wanted to give him an outing as she would be gone for a little while this evening while I was at work. She took the loooooooong way to do an errand and it ended up being a road by a golf course. Apparently, the little boy was just thrilled to see his first golf carts. Go figure...

Happy Mother's Day

Tug would like to wish his favorite Mama a quiet and peaceful day.

P.S. he turned 2 last Sunday! I can hardly believe he's been with us this long.
