In the past, when I've left for a week on a business trip, Mama and Tug would drop me off at the airport and the little boy would just be distraught when they would drive off without me. This week, however, I drove myself so I just left early on Monday before Tug was even awake. Today, when I left the airport driving home I called Mama to make sure the blinds were closed before I arrived. That way he wouldn't see me before I got to the stairs and go bonkers. Well, it worked. In fact, the reception I got was about the same as a normal night when I come home! :O
How very funny- as he grows up I am torn between being happy he's becoming calmer and more managable but a little sad that he's not practically hurting himself trying to welcome me home!

Good boy!
Mama had gotten Tug a big pillow to sit on and my sister and I used it in self-defense at the table one night. He sat on it between us and stayed pretty quiet if we'd reach down and pet him every so often.
It's stayed there. Now, when we're eating, he spends most of his time sitting there watching us and less time licking and trying to get our attention. Yes, we know we spoil him horribly and foster very bad habits but at least he's behaving! (Of course, the bits of food we drop help- much of it accidentally and not "accidentally-on-purpose.")

Dog days of summer
It's been really hot around here- 95 degrees in the shade with a heat index of 107. Little smooshed-nose Tug doesn't do well in the heat but wants to be outside so much that Mama has taken him to a nearby paw park. Here's intelligence for you - they've put a child's wading pool in the small dog side!
The other day Tug was racing back and forth along the fence which separated him from the big dog side- he and a young German Shepard were playing!! Then, as the best way to cool a Boston is wet their feet, Mama put him in the wading pool. He stood there and then got out and played some more. Eventually, he went back and stood in it himself!! It must be he's hit his stride at age 2 or something since the little weenie is taking chances now. He put his paws in the ocean, he "plays" with other dogs...what's next for our baby???
