weekend trip

We're going out of town together this weekend- all four of us in my sister's SUV. Normally, it's a 7 hour road trip and little Tuggums has never been in on a trip with more than 3 hours travel at a time. For our RV trip (April, '07) he was in the car a lot but there was an hour or more stop early on where he got out and stretched his legs. Then, he hit a three hour stretch. This time, we'll be stopping periodically which lengthens the trip and we'll end up at a hotel that takes dogs. I hope the boy does well and doesn't get sick from stress or just worn out (thereby entering "biting" mode where he even gnaws our hands if he can get 'em). Unfortunately, it's a sad trip so we three humans won't be at our best, either. Tug does respond to our moods and the disquiet we've experienced from a loss has made him clingy and a little anxious some days- more than normal a few times. Of course, when I worry about these things he always comes through like a trooper and it's the terrier resiliency, I think. As hard as this weekend will be for the boy I'm glad our little fella will be along. He gives us something else to focus on and he's got such a sweet face...when he's not gnawing...
