My sister went for a second surgery (see April) but this time it was set for late afternoon. Mama was going to have Tug ready for bed early in the afternoon and the poor baby was going to have to be in the crate until 10pm!!! (Would you believe it was the one day they asked me to stay extra late to have a meeting with 3rd shift staff? At least they were coming in early for it or it could have been much later.)
So, I get up a little later than usual as I'm not going in quite as early and Mama, Tug and I are just doing morning greetings when my sister calls. There was a last minute cancellation and they can fit her in early. Mama goes from relaxed morning to brisk rearranging of her day and Tug noticed. He got VERY attentive and when she quickly walked to her room and came out dressed soon after his little face fell. Somehow, he knew this wasn't a trip to the park (which my sister used to call the "candy store" as he got soooo excited when he arrived- and he'd learned the word "park").
He moped after she left and got very clingy- hence the "velcro dog" nickname. Unfortunately, I was leaving about 1/2 an hour later...he got peanut butter when he went into the crate and that does relieve the sting a little. So, Mama comes home in the early evening and he's been in there all day long. I get home after 10pm which is his normal bedtime and they're waiting up for me. Mama decided to keep him up late as he'd spent so much of the day in the crate. Silly woman- terriers love their routines- Tug wanted to go to bed shortly after I came in and I had to convince her he was serious and not just looking for a treat. Somehow, even if he's in the crate all day he still wants to sleep at his normal time...
